ABOUT
Porcelain sun is a four-piece indie rock band from Davis, CA.
Our Story
The Sun Rises in the East Bay (2023)
Porcelain Sun rose in the East Bay when four friends from high school choir in Brentwood, CA naturally gravitated towards one another with a shared affinity for the arts. In the social drought of the early 2020’s, Auggie, Jacob, Josh, and Reed found an oasis of camaraderie in jamming out jagged covers of alt-rock tunes in Reed’s garage. A rough rendition of Porcelain Sun was forged in the heat of summer 2023, defined by the warm alt-rock influences of early Coldplay and Radiohead injected with smoked-up, choral-inspired vocal harmonies. Porcelain Sun’s blazing momentum abruptly collided with the volatile futures of its young members, and they soon found themselves to be ashes in the wind, blowing east from Santa Cruz across Brentwood and up to Reno.
Davis Days (2025-Present)
Auggie, Jacob, Josh and Reed found themselves back together in Davis, CA, this time as students of the University of California, Davis. After 2 years in the dark, the band washed back ashore with stronger tides of ambition. In August 2025, Porcelain Sun returned to the garage. Here, they solidified their line-up with Auggie on lead guitar, Jacob on rhythm guitar, Josh on bass, and Reed on the drums. The four-piece established their core tenants of relaying vocal lines, weaving together harmonies, and playing off one another in their lived-in and authentic element. Synthesizing influences from The Backseat Lovers, Arctic Monkeys and The Strokes, Porcelain Sun found a diverse yet cohesive spin on indie rock, rooted in a breezy California living and dipped in the slow-burning catharsis of youth. They hosted their debut show on September 27, 2025 right outside the garage they rehearse in, and since then, have gone on to play over a dozen shows in the Davis area.

Our Music
Porcelain Sun’s first original, Josh’s Santa Cruz, began as a reggae response to 311’s Amber, before receiving an overhaul to fit the breezy sun-soaked beach rock atmosphere the name suggests. Josh and Auggie followed up with Fatality, a somber response to Velvet Underground’s Femme Fatale, brooding in the meltdown of perplexity and romantic magnetism. Auggie’s Right Now is a cathartic plea and introspection on post-breakup shock. Jacob’s Plastic Eyes draws influence from Flipturn, exploring the hollow state-of-being of a social nomad. Other works include Holiday, a slap of beachy revelry and Over You, a sultry break-up tune soaked in smooth wah tones. Coming to all streaming platforms soon.
